The birth of the Legacy lights originated from a thoughtful gesture to one of the employees at Town and Country Electric Maui Inc. whose health was declining. Mick saw a friend in need and desperately wanted to help. Mick had spent many forgetless hours with his friend Bill and had created a deep relationship with him. “ I was on a job site and noticed there was plenty of materials in my truck to create something to lift his spirits. Using the U.L listed materials I created a light with junction boxes, conduit and fittings along with a 120 volt outlet with USB ports, a 15 amp single pole switch with an LED light and a 15 amp rated power cord. I had some photographs of the employee in my office that I glued onto flat portions of the light. Suddenly I had a light that the employee could charge his phone, charge his tools, use his computer and even shine a light on the photographs and surrounding his work area.” Upon giving the light to the family they said “ This light will be Bill's Legacy.” This was the birth of the Legacy Light. Th e lights are an outpouring of Mick's character and personality. They leave a cratering impact on whoever hears their story. Gretchen is the only person the has received two Legacy Lights from me . Her first light took her totally off guard and by the look on her face says it all . She told me what a great blessing it was to receive it . The light has been taken over by her daughter Allegra who has it by her bedside and loves it . Her second light was a light I was making for Sir Richard Branson and I had sent a picture of the finished light to Gretchen to get her opinion on the light when completely unexpected and not knowing who I had intended the light for, she said ( I have to have this ) Gretchen was traveling from Maui to her family farm in Kansas and sensing her excitement of the light I decided to send it to her in Kansas . The picture says it all . If she asked for 10 more lights I’d gladly make them more for her . Gretchen is the crown jewel of my Legacy lights . Gretchen was blown away with her first Legacy Light she received before a performance at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center . Gretchen has been a big inspiration to me and a big supporter of my Legacy lights . She liked them so much that when I showed her a picture of one of my Space lights she replied ( I have to have that ! ) Gretchen was in Kansas at the time so I mailed the light to her in Kansas . Her daughter Allegra loved the first light so much that she kept it for herself . At the family farm in Kansas , Gretchen seen here holding her New Legacy Light and number #1 of my Space Lights Special Edition . The smile on her face is priceless .

Mick was in the process of making one of his lights and had it stored in his truck. His close friend Shane Jones had seen it and was instantly shocked by the light and its creativity. Shane showed Scott Nielson and he was also impressed by the idea and thoughtful design of art work and metal. Scott approached Mick about making a smaller version of the lights for children. Mick went to work and made 2 original “Robot” lights that looked smaller than the previous lights and were more tailored toward children. In 2020 tragedy stuck and the world was sent into a global pandemic with the Coronavirus. People were locked in their homes. “I began to receive pictures of the kids with their lights, using them to charge games, laptops, and learning devices.” The lights were giving kids joy and helping them through an extremely hard time.
